About us
Rosedale Foundation is a Christ-led start-up charity aimed at supporting the homeless and displaced in London’s local communities.
Our story
Our story began with something very simple. A desire to serve others. As a couple, we became involved in our churches’ outreach programmes, where we had the privilege of meeting and spending time with people experiencing homelessness. What started as an opportunity to give our time quickly became something that touched our hearts deeply. We heard people’s stories, shared conversations, offered practical support and, most importantly, began to see the person behind the circumstances. Those experiences stayed with us long after each outreach ended.
The more we became involved, the more we felt that we couldn’t stop there. We found ourselves asking how we could do more, reach more people and make a lasting difference. We were inspired not only by the people we met, but also by the compassion, generosity and resilience we witnessed within the outreach community. What began as a way for us to give back together gradually became a shared calling and a vision for something more. That vision is what led us to establish our foundation, with the hope of extending the same compassion, dignity and practical support to people experiencing homelessness, and reminding those who may feel forgotten that they are seen, valued and not alone.
What we mean by “support that lasts”
Emergency help is the easy part to fund and the easy part to photograph. The hard part is the eighteen months afterwards: the tenancy that needs defending, the benefits claim that stalls, the birthday nobody remembers. We budget for that part deliberately, and we measure ourselves on it.
We are not a large organisation and we do not pretend to be. We would rather do a small amount of work properly than a great deal of it badly.
What we stand for
-
Dignity first
Everyone is met as a person, never as a case number.
-
We stay
Short-term relief is only the start. We keep walking with people.
-
Faith in action
Christ-led in why we do it, open to all in who we serve.
-
Honest with your money
Every donation is accounted for and evidence is provided of where it’s being distributed to.
Safeguarding
We work with people who may be vulnerable. All volunteers are referenced, inducted and, where the role requires it, DBS checked. Our safeguarding policy and named safeguarding lead to be added.
Come and see for yourself
Most of our volunteers started by turning up once.
