Using this website

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this site. That means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts in your browser;
  • zoom in to 400% without text spilling off the screen;
  • navigate the whole site using a keyboard alone;
  • navigate using speech recognition software;
  • listen to the site with a screen reader.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We believe this site is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, but it has not yet been independently audited, so we describe our status as partially compliant until it has.

Known points to verify before launch:

  • Every photograph in the gallery needs meaningful alternative text once real images replace the placeholders.
  • The contact form needs proper error messaging once it is connected to a handler.
  • Our GoFundMe and Eventbrite pages are run by those platforms, so their accessibility is outside our control.

Feedback and contact

If you need information from this site in a different format — large print, easy read, audio, or plain text by email — contact office@rosedalefoundation.co.uk and tell us what you need. We will reply within five working days.

If you find a problem that is not listed on this page, or you think we are not meeting the accessibility requirements, please tell us using the same address. We take it seriously and we will fix what we can.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission enforces the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. If you are unhappy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service at equalityadvisoryservice.com.

As a start-up charity we are not a public sector body, so those regulations do not apply to us directly. We have chosen to follow the same standard anyway, because the people we serve are among those most likely to be using an old phone, a borrowed device or a screen reader.

Technical information

Rosedale Foundation is committed to making this website accessible in accordance with WCAG 2.2 AA.

Steps we have taken so far:

  • Text and background colours meet the AA contrast ratio throughout, including the teal and gold used in our branding.
  • The site works without JavaScript, apart from the mobile menu.
  • Motion on the home page is disabled automatically for anyone whose system is set to reduce motion.
  • Headings follow a logical order and every page has a skip link, page landmarks and a descriptive title.
  • Form fields have visible, permanently associated labels rather than placeholder text.
  • Text reflows to a single column on small screens and stays readable at 400% zoom.
